Mute Monday!

Mute Monday: Greatness

If you have never been then you should go, it's considered the Largest Pow Wow of North America. Held every year in April, this year it's April 24th to the 26th. IMO it IS the greatest Pow Wow.

** The Gathering of Nations **

I try and go every year, its a weekend full of color, sounds and tribes from around the globe. Opening and closing ceremonys over 3000 dancers make their way onto the dance floor. These three days are filled with more beads, ribbons, bells, shells, feathers, leather and ever on-going motion than you can shake a stick at! You should go if you ever have the oppertunity!

Huge ass pic spam ahead! You've been warned! :D

=================================

And these are pics I took from last year:

Closing ceremony: I believe there were just over 3500 dancers participating.

I can't wait to see it all over again a few weeks! Happy Mute Monday all!

Excellent and original take. I go see a Peruvian tribal group when they're in town. Christian and some pop tunes all performed with their ancient traditional instruments.

Bet there's good music at your huge Pow-Wow!

Happy MM.

Oh yes! The music 100% live also preformed from the tribes around the nation as well - all part of the competition. I love going to this event!

Happy Mute Monday!

Totally kick ass take on the theme! The Gathering of Nations rocks. It almost always falls on the weekend of my birthday, too.

Yup my sister and I are heading up there again this year! And again, the weekend passes sold out, so we'll have to take our chances standing in line.

That does look great!! We have a much smaller event here, the Three Fires Traditional Pow Wow, celebrating the three tribes of Michigan, Ottawa, Chippewa, and Potawatomi.

Marvelous Mute Monday!

This is like the Mother Load of Pow Wows! To be around so many Native Americans! I am half Navajo but was never raised on the Navajo Nation so I love being around folks who look like me! Happy MM to you!
