Update from Denver!

So we met with Dr. Collins today, she's a really nice charming lady whom seems to think it should be no problem to fix Dame's SVT. She also thinks he has AVNRT or A.V. Node Reentrant Tachycardia.

We found out the Children's Hospital does four ablations a week.

FOUR a week! on kids!

It's just mind boggling and bit sad. It's also sorta sad to see so many children in one hospital too.

But back to Dame, Dr. Collins says she's certain Dame will not have to stay in the hospital over night, that his 'incision' is going to be three needle size punctures in his groin area and one in his neck. That's it, no incision like we'd been told because they do everything through angiocaths! Although he's still going to have to remain immobile for up to 4 hours once the procedure is done, maybe 6 hour dependent on where the abnormal cycle in his heart is, is occurring and which procedure she will do to correct it. Then he's free to go home! he will be monitored for up to a year before he's officially discharged from the hospital's cardiac records because if he never has another episode in a year after his procedure, he's good!

And so far so good, the boy's heart has behaved. Of course we haven't done much. Yesterday we spent the day walking the Denver Zoo. OMG! It's huge! and so much better than the San Diego zoo. Then after wards we met up with the wonderful and lovely who went above and beyond to buy dinner for us. Thank you so much! :D It was really great to meet another LJ flister! :DDD

Then we came back and crashed. Neither Elz or I slept well, we both kept listening for Dame because it was his first time ever off the med since this all started last year in October. so yeah, we were a bit tired today. And speaking of today, we did the Denver Aquarium, I mean how stressful is it to watch fish all day? Not very stressful. Then we found Duffy's Cherry Cricket which Dame insisted he wanted to try after seeing it on Man Vs. Food but then at the very last second had a melt down and didn't speak during the entire meal. We still don't know what caused the melt down but he's over it and back swimming in the pool since we won't be able to after tomorrow.

Tomorrow is going to be spent pretty much all day at the hospital. It's a great facility, the people are so very polite and willing to answer any question you might have and efficient! wow! Very efficient. We're impressed. They even gave Dame a tour of where his procedure is going to take place and let him take pictures which he did but I can't show you because the laptop is not equip to do this. But that boy has taken over three hundred pictures since we've been here. Downloading them is going to be interesting.
